Development of a data warehouse for one of the UK’s largest supermarkets, providing them - for the first time- a centralised and standardised view of data across the group.
Design and development of a cloud-based data warehouse for one of the UK’s largest supermarkets, providing them – for the first time – clean and standardised analytical and reporting layers to drive decision making and insight.
This was built from separate, non-aligned EPOS data and differing metadata. This led to significant complexity, not limited to reconciliation. Given the complex and siloed
nature of the business, we placed significant emphasis on quality assurance at
every step and continue to proactively manage QA on the client’s behalf.
From this solid foundation, we have also created a series of benchmarking dashboards that allow for the operational management of centralised and separate business units, providing the first set of fully aligned benchmark reporting to identify best practice commercial performance.
The creation of this centralised data asset has since been exploited for broader data monetisation projects that we have also delivered in partnership with the client. We continue to support this client with data management, data exploitation initiatives, moving into analytics to optimise purchasing and pricing decisions.
